The US Department of Energy (DOE) has announced an LED demonstration project to install double-LED LED fixtures in the parking lot of Raley Supermarket in Sacramento, Western California.
The demonstration project report (GATEWAYdemonstrationreport) was written by Pacific Gas & Electric and EnergySolutions to provide an overview of the test results, including lighting performance, economic efficiency and energy savings potential.
In the project, the Raley supermarket parking lot uses new LED luminaires, which are provided by BetaLED and combined with bi-level work controlled by motion detectors to replace some metal halide (MH) luminaires.
Survey results:
The average power of high-power LED lamps is 149W, and the average power of low-power LED lamps is 52W. Compared with metal halide lamps with a power of 346W, LED lamps are expected to save nearly 70% of energy per year.
High-power and low-power LED lamps emit light that is uniform, which is better than metal halide lamps.
Simply calculate the payback period for LED luminaires, and the return on investment for two-level work LED luminaires for new buildings and building renovations is less than five years.
The seventh round of test results of the CALiPER project
The US Department of Energy has completed product testing for the seventh round of the solid-state lighting CALiPER project, including outdoor lighting, downlights and replacement lights.
Prequalification statement for stress testing
The US Department of Energy also requires a capability statement for the purpose of pre-reviewing research facilities and/or pre-trial laboratories that develop and stress test LEDs.
Qualified organizations will be able to develop and execute various test procedures to evaluate the performance of a particular monolithic LED luminaire in a variety of work environments, identify fault modes, and reduce the occurrence of such faults.
Both sudden failures and reduced performance (light output, significant color shifts, and changes in luminous intensity distribution) have been taken into account.
The implementation of the stress test will support the development of the DOE Solid State Lighting Program activities related to the CALiPER Project Testing and L Prize (LPrize(tm)) competition. Prior to the birth of the winners, entries in the L Awards must meet stringent performance requirements and undergo rigorous photometry, life testing, and stress testing.
