Avago launches industry's first waterproof, high-brightness, tri-color SMT LED
Avago Technologies has announced the development of the first compact, high-brightness, waterproof, three-color surface mount LED product for indoor and outdoor full-color signage and display signage applications. Avago's ASMT-YTB0 plastic PLCC-6 black body and ASMT-QTC0 industry standard PLCC-4 package LEDs have been enhanced with waterproofing to save the cost of both indoor and outdoor display application design engineers plus protective covers. These compact tri-color LEDs are ideal for applications such as electronic screens and billboards commonly found in traffic transfer stations, airports and stadium scoreboards.
Avago's enhanced ASMT-YTB0 LEDs provide full color display application design engineers with better color control and contrast, 115o viewing angles, and are especially suited for better screen resolutions for indoor and outdoor LED screens larger than 12mm pixels. Designed for higher brightness performance and enhanced temperature management and independent color control through 6 pins, it can be used to display a variety of colors including white. With a size of 4.4 x 4.4 x 3.5 mm, these LED products from Avago can achieve long-term photometric output performance by using silicone materials.
The ASMT-QTC0 package adds a separate heat dissipation path for each LED chip, allowing for higher current drive, so these SMT LEDs can operate under a wide range of environmental conditions, providing customers with higher reliability. Both tri-color LEDs are compatible with reflow soldering procedures and meet MSL2a humidity sensitivity requirements, making them ideal for SMT surface mount production environments. ASMT-YTB0 and ASMT-QTC0 LED products are currently available.
