Jiangmen City will invest at least RMB 2 billion to support the development of the LED industry in the area, and will plan the exclusive industrial base core park. Jiangmen City currently has more than 100 manufacturers directly engaged in LED business, and there are about 1,000 related companies, and its 2009 output growth rate is 17%. If you maintain the growth rate in 2009, you may not be able to achieve the target of RMB 30 billion in 2012.
The LED industry is a key development project selected by the Guangdong Provincial Government. More than 2,600 companies are engaged in the LED industry in the Pearl River Delta region, with an output value exceeding RMB 30 billion. Although the industrial chain is relatively complete, it is mainly concentrated in the middle and lower reaches, and the core chips are quite dependent on imports.
Yi Zhongqiang, deputy mayor of Jiangmen, revealed that Japanese manufacturers have closed their production bases in Nanjing and Suzhou and transferred to Jiangmen to develop high-power LED products, which have already been mass-produced. The annual output value of the manufacturer is expected to reach RMB 400 million. In addition to the Japanese industry, German and Taiwanese companies are also interested in investing in Jiangmen. As for mainland mainland players, there are three projects in Shenzhen and Hong Kong that invest in Jiangmen.
However, it is worth noting that the LED industry in Guangdong Province is still insufficient in scale, so it is limited in research and development and recruitment of high-level talents. In addition, the technology of most core components is still in the hands of foreign investors, and the bargaining and profit-making space of local manufacturers will be limited.
