Taiwan's leading production of touch panels is obvious to all, but since Apple's iPhone 5 will use Apple's own In Cell touch technology, there has been a crisis. Many people have focused on production processes and materials. To compare the competitiveness of the touch industry, I would like to put forward different views.
In fact, the most upstream and pyramid-top technology that affects the capacitive touch industry is “touch location detection.†Once a revolutionary invention is made, the entire touch industry will be completely changed. Just as the evolution from measuring self-capacitance changed to measuring the change in mutual capacitance, the mutual-capacitive touch panel now almost completely replaces the original self-capacitive touch panel.
