China's Fiber Market Develops Strongly in the First Quarter

According to the latest data released by relevant research institutions, the global optical fiber production in the first quarter of 2013 reached 67 million core kilometers, a year-on-year increase of 6%, which is the highest quarterly increase ever.

In 2012, the demand for optical cable in the Chinese market increased by 15%. It is expected that this year will maintain the same strong growth rate and promote the double-digit growth of the global market. In the first quarter of 2013, China consumed 32.7 million core kilometers of fiber, which was a year-on-year increase of 19%.

Global growth of 6% reflects a wide range of market trends. The U.S. market was down 35% year-on-year. The Western European market was up 5% year-on-year, and other regions were up 24% year-on-year.
