OSRAM develops new hybrid LED power-assisted smart headlights

According to foreign media reports, Osram has taken another big step toward smart car technology. The company has developed a hybrid LED with a resolution of 1024 pixels and can be individually manipulated. In the future, the cone of light will be shaped in a dynamic manner, so that the driver can always have the best lighting conditions for the driver, and the driver will not be dazzled by the lights coming from the vehicle.

The OSRAM Eviyos prototype matrix LED is based on the AFS research project, which was coordinated by Osram Opto Semiconductors in the fall of 2016.

The prototype integrates a light-emitting chip with each pixel control electronics into a single component, enabling Eviyos to achieve a 1024 pixel level. Users can change the number of hybrid LEDs used in the application and use them as a supplement to conventional LEDs, depending on the requirements of each device.

At 11 mA/pixel, the minimum luminous intensity of the light source should be 3 lm, and the pixel can also exhibit a 朦胧 effect. Only by turning on the luminous dots within a given time can it be kept at all times. In the lit state, the system is energy efficient, at least higher than those systems where all pixels are always on, because the former is more energy efficient. In addition, optical activation or deactivation can be achieved by the LC intermediate layer.

As early as 2010, OSRAM wanted to launch a controllable multi-pixel source, and the company plans to develop a complete product system with different functions. The technology may be used in other applications, and intelligent control and target lighting control are of high importance in this field.
