Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced that the power rating of the 2512 form factor PTN series precision surface mount film chip resistors is 2W. Vishay Dale thin-film devices feature self-passivating, moisture-resistant nitride resistive film technology with high power ratings and absolute TCR down to ±25ppm/°C, laser trimmed tolerances from -55°C to +125°C wide temperature As low as ±0.1%.

The PT nitride resistive film of PTN resistors allows the device to withstand moisture levels above the limits of MIL-PRF-55342, making this device ideal for low noise, high precision control systems in military, aerospace, telecommunications and industrial applications. Moist and long-term storage during the period can be a problem.

The PTN series has a total of 13 dimensions from 0402 to 2512, with a resistance range of 10 Ω to 3 MΩ, providing non-standard resistance values. The device uses a high-purity ceramic substrate, and the package is terminated on the adhesion layer covered with a nickel gate and a solder coating to a resistance of less than 10 mΩ. Vishay offers epoxy-bonded terminations and lead terminations upon request.

In addition to the power level of 50mW to 2W, the PTN series also provides less than -25dB of noise, a voltage coefficient of 0.1ppm/V, and a voltage rating of 75V to 200V. These lead-free devices are halogen-free and are fully RoHS compliant and Vishay green. The resistance was 100% visually inspected according to perMIL-PRF-55342 and the sulfur resistance was tested on the ASTMB 809-95 wet steam test.

The 2512 form factor enhanced PTN series devices are sampling now and are in volume production, with lead times of eight to ten weeks for larger orders.
