Design challengeDesign an operator-independent RF hardware platform to provide international roaming and downlink carrier aggregation technologies for future LTE mobile devices.
solutionThe solution relies on AWR's software, specifically Microwave Office®, to design the antenna system and RF front-end module architecture for the 3-feed port. R&D with Microwave Office software directly eliminates the need for matching for duplexers (required in a single feed architecture) to make the hardware platform independent of the operator. In addition, the 3-feed architecture improves system performance by at least 2dB, making WLAN interoperability better and linearity better.
In addition, Pulse not only uses AWR software to create circuit simulation and matching circuits for antenna systems, but also uses it to create its common documentation platform. EPCOS uses Microwave Office to perform circuit simulations on front-end modules such as couplers, switches, duplexers, and filters, and also models them for nonlinear passive duplexing.
