JVC Kenwood recently said that it will launch the Android Auto car unit next week. AndroidAuto is Google's car infotainment system. As early as before, Google mentioned the wirelessization of Android Auto. Now it is almost realized, free from the shackles of wired connections. It’s completely wireless.
AndroidAuto is an in-vehicle infotainment system released by Google in 2015. When you use it, you need to use a data cable to connect your phone to the car in order to use its functions on the latter's center console. But later this year, AndroidAuto will get rid of the shackles of wired connections and become completely wireless.
JVC Kenwood said recently that they will launch two wireless Android Auto units at CES next week. Both devices will use JVC and Kenwood brands respectively, with a screen resolution of 1280x720, which is enough for the car screen.
In addition to AndroidAuto, these two devices can also support Apple's CarPlay, but it is not clear whether the latter can also run wirelessly. However, there are already a few wireless CarPlays on the market.
At the I/O conference in May last year, Google mentioned the wirelessization of AndroidAuto. Users can speak the voice command of "OK Google" to activate this function. So it seems that JVC's products are not surprising.
Unfortunately, JVC Kenwood did not disclose the specific information of the two devices. But by the CES show that will open next Monday, we should be able to have a more comprehensive understanding of them.
