Enhanced Voice Service (EVS) opens the global commercial process

Enhanced Voice Service (EVS) is a new 3GPP VoLTE codec developed jointly by Fraunhofer IIS. In addition, EVS is the designated codec for ultra-wideband services in the GSMA VoLTE standard. EVS delivers full HD voice quality, making voice calls comparable to today's digital media services. Integrating cutting-edge voice and audio coding technology, EVS brings significantly better voice and background sound quality than AMR-WB, and has superior anti-jamming capability under poor network conditions. EVS delivers optimized network capacity at an unbeatable low bit rate.

At the same time, EVS technology has begun to be promoted among global operators. US operator T-Mobile, Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo and Germany Vodafone have applied EVS technology in VoLTE networks and supported a variety of smartphones and chipsets.
