Surya Roshni, an Indian lighting company, plans to enter LED manufacturing and announced that it will invest 150 million rupees to establish India's first R&D and testing center in Kashipur, Uttarakhand.
It is understood that Surya is the second largest lighting manufacturer in India. Surya Chairman Agarwal said: "The LED bulbs are rapidly replacing incandescent lamps, and its market size is estimated at 100 million rupees (nearly 12 million renminbi). We hope that the LED luminaires will achieve the same amount of revenue." Surya company has the most Advanced photometric laboratory. He added: "The increase in the accuracy of light measurement will become a catalyst for the rapid development of the LED market."
Surya’s existing production facilities are located in the Kashipur and Malanpur areas of Madhya Pradesh, India. They produce incandescent lamps, FTLs, CFLs, etc. The company expects that its fiscal 2012 revenue will jump from Rs 30 billion in FY 2011 to Rs 50 billion. Surya's main business consists of two parts, with steel accounting for 66% and lighting for 34%. The growth trend of the two businesses is expected to be basically the same.
