Skyworth and BOE launch OLED TV independently developed

On November 16, Skyworth Group and BOE, together with Huawei's Hisilicon, released the first China-developed OLED TV in Shenzhen.

It is reported that the China-developed OLED TV released by Skyworth is based on the OLED screen from BOE. BOE is a leading company in the domestic display field and is now the second largest panel manufacturer in the world. In the first half of this year, BOE announced that it will invest 46.5 billion yuan in Mianyang, Sichuan to establish the 6th generation AMOLED production line, plus the 5.5-generation production line of Erdos and the two 6-generation lines of Chengdu. Soon, BOE's OLED production line will reach four.

BOD President Liu Xiaodong said that BOE has cooperated with Skyworth to release China's independent research and development of OLED products. The mastery of core technologies and close cooperation between upstream and downstream will help China's OLED industry to overtake in a new round of international competition.

Looking back at the development of the liquid crystal display industry, the core technology has always been mastered by Japanese and Korean companies, and the research and development of Chinese companies has lagged behind and missed the opportunity to achieve high-end brands. According to data from Aowei.com, OLED TV sales in China will continue to grow by 400% in 2016 and 2017. The research organization IHS also said that by 2018, China's OLED TV market share in the world will be stable at around 20%.
