Is it true or not that Huawei is coveting Nokia?

Electronic enthusiast network [Compiler / Candy Yang]: Since reports have speculated, the struggling Finnish mobile phone manufacturer will be an acquisition target of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, and Nokia ’s stock has soared recently. Since then, Huawei has refuted these reports.

"Financial Times" reported that earlier this week, Huawei Consumer Business Group Chairman Yu Chengdong said that the company may be interested in acquiring Nokia, Huawei is considering these acquisitions, but ultimately depends on Nokia's will.

Is it true or not that Huawei is coveting Nokia?

On June 20, Bloomberg News reported that a Huawei spokesperson said in an email statement that Huawei has no plans to acquire Nokia. Huawei has had some small acquisitions, but it has never acquired a company of this size like Nokia.

Nick Spencer, a senior business director at ABI Research, also expressed his disapproval of Huawei ’s acquisition of Nokia in a blog post on Wednesday. Spencer also declared that "Nokia is the" yesterday "brand". He also added, “Nokia ’s IP portfolio is very valuable and may affect Huawei ’s construction costs, but I do n’t believe it. Huawei ’s lack of acquisition experience in the past is enough to prove that this is unlikely to happen.”

Spencer believes that Yu Chengdong's claims are only soliciting public effects for Huawei's Ascend 6 smartphone, otherwise it is causing trouble for his PR team.

Huawei's intention to acquire Nokia seems impossible. If nothing goes wrong, the executive may be a little too accustomed to relying on journalists and those exaggerated claims. Or maybe Yu Chengdong really wants to show that Huawei wants to grab a bigger share of the global mobile phone market.
