Shanghai, China, June 20, 2013 – NXP Semiconductors NV (Nasdaq: NXPI) recently announced the launch of the new Gen8 + LDMOS RF power transistor as the eighth-generation LDMOS wireless base station with special attention to TD-LTE An extension of the product line. As China begins to lay the world's largest 4G network, the launch of Gen8 + will consolidate NXP's TD-LTE product portfolio (currently the most complete TD-LTE LDMOS product portfolio) and significantly improve performance, flexibility and economy. The BLC8G27LS-160AV is the first Gen8 + device to be released. This is the world ’s smallest and most economical solution for 15 W and 20 W power amplifiers for active antenna outdoor base stations (2.6 GHz). The device can support up to 5 TD-LTE carriers simultaneously and provide high efficiency covering the full band (2.5 to 2.7 GHz).
A breakthrough feature of the Gen8 + product portfolio is the use of cavity plastic (ACP) packaging. Compared to ceramic packages, ACP is more economical and flexible, which means that each new product will be able to meet customers faster. The new ACP package also allows the use of improved passive devices to improve performance by reducing power consumption and increasing gain and efficiency. Gen8 + also adds a large number of other packaging options, including QFN, OMP and ceramic packages.
The Gen8 + product portfolio was originally designed for base station applications in the frequency range of 2300-2700 MHz. As an extension of the existing NXP LDMOS product family, Gen8 + increases the range of power consumption levels in various bands, ranging from 5 watts to 240 watts. Gen8 + has excellent power and small size, which means that it can further save costs.

Qualified users can request engineering samples of Gen8 + ACP products immediately. Samples of BLC8G27LS-160AV and other Gen8 + LDMOS transistors will be provided in the third quarter of 2013.
